Men's skincare in three steps
No ten-step routine required. A cleanser, a moisturiser and a sunscreen cover almost everything — here is how to pick each one.

Most men who ask us for skincare advice want the shortest routine that actually works. Good news: it is three steps, and it takes about two minutes.
Step one: cleanse
Wash your face morning and night with a cleanser made for your skin, not a bar of body soap. Oily skin suits a foam or gel; dry skin a creamier wash. Use lukewarm water — hot water strips the skin and leaves it tight.
Step two: moisturise
Even oily skin needs moisture. A light, non-greasy cream after cleansing stops the tight feeling that makes skin produce more oil. If you shave, this step also calms razor irritation.
Shave after cleansing, with the grain, using a sharp blade. Most razor bumps come from dull blades and dry skin.
Step three: sunscreen
This is the step most men skip and the one that makes the biggest long-term difference — against sunburn, dark spots and early lines. A light fluid absorbs quickly and does not leave a white cast.
When to add a fourth step
If breakouts are your main issue, swap in a salicylic acid cleanser a few times a week. If dark marks bother you, a niacinamide serum before moisturiser is an easy addition. Add one thing at a time.
The short version
Cleanse, moisturise, protect. Do it daily and you are ahead of most routines with twice the products.
